enable the Government in its discretion to restrict the introduct- -ion of infirm or destitute aliens into the Colony for purposes of

charitable support.

In this connection I may point that the

Colony at present enjoys a certain measure of protection against the importation of Vagrants (Ordinance No. 9 of 1897); of Mendiconts (Ordinance No. 10 of 1899 section 39(20)); and of Imbeciles of other than Chinese nationality (Ordinance No. 1 of

1904).
